The Bear Garden natural gas pipeline project was a joint venture with Columbia Gas of Virginia supplying efficient, clean energy to the Dominion Virginia Power’s Bear Garden facility in Buckingham County, Virginia. The project involved the design and construction of a 13.5 mile long 24 inch natural gas pipeline with a Point of Delivery Station and meter facility within the power plant.
Townes obtained site plan approval by the local municipalities for the Point Delivery Station (POD), the regulator sites and the overall erosion & sediment control plans. The Townes team also assisted Dominion Virginia Power in the acquisition of the Virginia Water Protection Permit (VWPP) from the Department of Environmental Quality. During the construction of the pipeline and facilities the Townes team provided full time erosion control inspections as well as construction monitoring and reporting as required by the VWPP permit. Townes coordinated these activities with government agencies, Columbia Gas of Virginia and Dominion Virginia Power to keep the project in compliance with all applicable state and federal permit requirements.
